How to Treat Gastrointestinal Issues


Gastritis can be described as the inflammation of the inner lining of the stomach. This condition can cause irritation in the general stomach region, leading to many different intestinal diseases. It can occur suddenly and can last for a small period of time, or it can be chronic, lasting for several days or weeks. When treating diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, it is necessary to determine the main issue at hand with proper diagnosis. Luckily, there are natural treatments that can help speed up the process of healing the intestines.

Birch Fungus (Chaga)

Birch fungus, also known as Chaga, can be used to improve the well-being of patients even with malignant diseases of any localization. Chaga is a type of mushroom that acts as a detoxifier and diuretic.  While taking Chaga, you will most likely notice a significant increase in urination from its diuretic properties, so it is important to also increase your water intake. This process will further help flush toxins, heavy metals and other contaminants from the body. Although Chaga is considered an edible ingredient, it is not commonly ingested due to its bitter nature. The best way to consume the chaga mushroom is by infusing it in Tea.

How To Make Chaga Tea

  1. Wash the mushroom and pat completely dry.
  2. Grate the change into very fine pieces and soak for 4 hours in cold boiled water. For 1 part grated mushroom take 5 parts of boiled water. The temperature of which should not exceed 50 ° C, and insist 2 days.
  3. Strain, squeeze the precipitate from the infusion.
  4. Take 3 glasses a day, divided into several receptions, 30 minutes before eating. The infusion can be stored for no more than 4 days in a cold place.

Raw Potatoes

Raw Potato juice enhances the production of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract. It has also been known to not only promote effective digestion, but also improve appetite and settle an upset stomach. It’s often recommended that drinking raw potato juice first thing in the morning on an empty stomach can help relieve the symptoms of an unhealthy gut. To make this juice, cut your potato in half. Then, cut each half into small cubes. Place your potato in a blender and add a small amount of water, just enough to saturate the potato chunks. Turn the blender on the highest setting possible. Blend the potato and water until you have a liquid-like, pulpy mixture and then strain the resulting mixture into a glass. Drink 1 cup of this juice 30 minutes before bed each nice and 1 hour before eating breakfast. Perform this procedure for 10 consecutive days. Take a 10 day break and then repeat the procedure for another 10 days. Repeat this 10 day cycle until symptoms improve. This method brings good results with heartburn, gastritis, normalizing the acidity of the stomach, regulating bowel function, and eliminating pain in the stomach.

Changes in Lifestyle

Sometime, all it takes to relieve gastric pain and digestive issues is to make small and simple changes in your everyday life. Many parts of our lifestyle that seem normal can wreak havoc on our internal organs without us even realizing it. To treat gastrointestinal problems without natural medicine, try focusing on some of these lifestyle changes:

  • Avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Avoid tobacco
  • Avoid pork of all forms
  • Do no reheat food, as this can cause consumption of unwanted bacteria.
  • Do not consume food that’s been frozen for over three months.
  • Avoid fried and fatty foods.
  • Avoid refined flour and processed bread.
  • Avoid artificial flavoring and preservatives.

How to Treat of Heartburn

Calamus is a root plant that is often used for gastrointestinal problems including ulcers, stomach inflammation, intestinal gas, upset stomach and loss of appetite. It is also used for the common condition of heartburn. The calamus is made up of chemical that cause muscle relaxation and sedation. To get rid of heartburn, chew a small piece of rhizome of calamus and swallow it with water (or without washing down). It is also possible to eat early in the morning with sorrel.

Stomach Spasm Relief

The following collection can help relieve the annoyance of stomach spasms and reduce pain. Mix together 1 tbsp. of chamomile and yarrow and bring to a boil. Let the mixture infuse on low heat for 30 minutes and drink hot in small sips.

Treating Colitis

A few familiar herbal remedies may be effective in the management of Colitis. Mix 1 tsp. of sage and chamomile and brew with 1 cup of boiling water for about 30 minutes. Drink 1 tbsp of this mixture every 2 hours. After 1-3 months, reduce the dose, lengthening the intervals between infusions. This treatment is harmless and can be prolonged. With severe pain in the stomach, drink tea from a mixture of an equal number of St. John’s Wort and nettle. To make the tea, brew 3 cups of boiling water, 6 tbsp. of the mixture and let it infuse for 1 hour. Drink 1 glass, quickly, and take every 3-4 hours daily.
